2015 Fall Census Enrollment Overview – Indiana Publics
Total one-year enrollments decreased 2.5%, continuing a five-year general downward trend of 7%
- Much of the decline can be attributed to Ivy Tech – down 10.4% from 2014 and down by 25.9% since 2011
4-year publics holding steady, with some enrollment growth shown
- Largest increases
- Indiana State – up 3.1% from 2014 and up 17.8% since 2011
- IU East – up 3.1% from 2014 and up 26.6% since 2011
- Much of the growth on the larger 4-year campuses has been at the graduate level and with non-resident undergraduates
Other noteworthy trends
- Institutions with an increase in resident bachelor’s-seeking students
- Indiana State – up 2.7% from 2014 and up 12.4% since 2011
- IU Kokomo – up 1.5% from 2014 and up 11.3% since 2011
- Statewide, the ratio of resident degree-seekers to total students is decreasing
- 4-year publics – down 7 percentage points since 2011 (61% to 54%)
- 2-year publics – down 9 percentage points since 2011 (83% to 72%)
- A large influx of non-degree seekers (~80% are high schoolers) has shored up otherwise weak undergraduate enrollments
- Ivy Tech and VU have the largest populations, while IU Bloomington and IPFW have recently seen significant increases
