Acquisition, Discovery, & the Application of Knowledge
The Acquisition and Discovery of Knowledge Committee is responsible for documenting and reviewing evidence that ISU promotes a life of learning for its faculty, administration, staff, and students by fostering and supporting inquiry, creativity, practice, and social responsibility in ways consistent with its mission.
Specific charges of the Acquisition and Discovery of Knowledge committee include:
- Review the Core Components of Criterion Four and review current ISU data and information to determine what evidence exists to demonstrate compliance with the core components and areas in which additional evidence needs to be gathered.
- Conduct a preliminary review of current evidence (or lack thereof) and identify major issues or questions that need to be addressed quickly for the University to be able to be compliant with the core components.
- Review any concerns raised in the last study about acquisition and discovery of knowledge and document the University’s progress toward meeting Criterion Four. Identify gaps in concerns and make recommendations on how these might be resolved.
- Identify additional questions or areas of inquiry within Criterion Four that could benefit the University if addressed by the committee as it prepares for the NCA visit.
- Prepare updates on progress for the Accreditation Leadership Committee meetings and prepare a phase one report that addresses charges by March 1.
