Student Learning & Effective Teaching
The Student Learning and Effective Teaching committee is responsible for verifying that ISU provides
evidence of student learning and teaching effectiveness and demonstrates it is fulfilling its educational mission.
Specific charges of the Student Learning and Effective Teaching committee include:
-
Review the Core Components of Criterion Three and review current ISU data and information to determine what
evidence exists to demonstrate compliance with the core components and areas in which additional evidence
needs to be gathered.
-
Conduct a preliminary review of current evidence (or lack thereof) and identify major issues or
questions that need to be addressed quickly for the University to be able to be compliant with the core
components.
-
Review any concerns raised in the last study about teaching and learning and document the University’s
progress toward meeting Criterion 3. Identify gaps in concerns and make recommendations on how these
might be resolved.
-
Identify additional questions or areas of inquiry within Criterion Three that could benefit the University
if addressed by the committee as it prepares for the NCA visit.
-
Prepare updates on progress for the Accreditation Leadership Committee meetings and prepare a phase
one report that addresses charges by March 1, 2008.
